Dear Member of the Northeast Baptist Conference:
The Women’s ministry of the Northeast Baptist Conference has created a scholarship to be awarded to young women who are members of churches in the conference. The Women’s ministry feels that God is leading us to assist young women, who are Christian examples in their community, as they go off to college away from the support of their church family by awarding scholarships in the amount of five hundred dollars ($500). We anticipate being able to award two (2) such scholarships.
The scholarship is open to: young women who attend college full-time AND:
1) who are graduating from high school in the Spring of 2009 and attending college in the Fall of 2009; OR
2) who are returning to college after completing a previous year; OR
3) who had taken time off after high school but will enter college in the Fall of 2009.
Enclosed you will find a copy of the application as well as the requirements for application. Please make copies as necessary and distribute to eligible young women or their families within your church as soon as possible. The applications must be postmarked by April 10, 2009 in order to be considered.
If there are not any candidates in your church at this time, but members of your congregation who would like to donate a gift to the scholarship fund, please send your donations to the address below. We will gladly accept gifts throughout the year from any members of your congregation that feel led to assist these young women. Please make checks payable to: NBC Women.

NORTHEAST BAPTIST CONFERENCE
CHRISTIAN LEADERSHIP AWARD
FOR FEMALE HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES
Students seeking this award must:
1. Be an active participant of a BGC church.
2. Be a senior in high school, expecting to graduate in June or recently graduated from high school; AND be an applicant for admission to a college or university; AND expecting to matriculate in the Fall.
3. Demonstrate Godly qualities in school and /or the community. Evidence would include church leadership/involvement, upstanding moral character, volunteer work and the like.
4. Show evidence of a developing value system indicating high expectations of self in terms of integrity and accountability for actions undertaken.
