To
encourage and uplift one another in prayer
To create a community of women who are empowered
by God to spread His purpose in our lives and those lives that we touch.
To edify the believer and to share the message of
Salvation to the unbeliever.
Q. “What
is the Auction about?”
A. The Auction was created as a way of
raising monies that would be collected and given to young ladies who are heading
off to college and in need of a little financial assistance.
Q. “Where
do the Auction items come from?”
A.
They are “giftable” items that are donated by women like yourself who want to
help the young ladies of our Christian family and are brought up with you when
you come to the retreat.
Q. “Who
receives these scholarships and how are they selected?”
A. There is a
detailed application (located on the website) that is filled out by the young
lady and then submitted to the NBC Women’s Ministry. The NBC Women’s Ministry
team then reviews the application(s) and makes the decision on who and how many
will receive scholarship funds. All of the monies collected from the
Scholarship Auction
goes to the scholarship recipient(s).
Q. “What
kinds of linens do I need to bring with me?”
A. Each room in
Lakewood Lodge has 2 sets of bunk beds and 2 twin beds.
A
sleeping bag or (1) Twin Fitted Sheet and (1) Twin Flat Sheet
Pillow
Blanket
Bath Towel
Hand
Towel (optional)
Bath
Mat (optional)
Q. “What
other things should I bring that I might not think of?”
A. Here is a list
of items that we would recommend bringing in addition to your linens:
BIBLE!
soap
toothpaste
hair
products
alarm
clock
flashlight
umbrella
Cash/Check for “Love Offering” for the speaker,
“Auction” (optional)
Q. “How
do I get to Lakeside?”
A. Visit their
website at
www.lakesideonline.org
and you will find a link for “directions”.
Q. “Who
will I be rooming with?”
A. Lakeside needs
to make good use of space. When you register you can request a specific person
and/or church group that you would like to room with and Lakeside will do their
very best to accommodate you.
Q. “Are
children welcome?”
A. We suggest that
the youngest “lady” to join us for this retreat would be thirteen years old.
The weekend is planned with somewhat “older” ladies in mind, so be sure that
this is something that your daughter would be able to benefit from too!
Q. “Are
there places where I can stop to eat Friday night before checking in for the
retreat?”
A. Most definitely! Here
are a few places along the way (depending on the direction that you are
traveling). Places with an (*) are locations that we have eaten at and
could recommend.
*Salmon Run Fish House (www.salmonrunfishhouse.com)
Cork n’ Hearth (entrées
from $19.00 - $26.00)
Friendly’s (145 Housatonic St.
Lee, MA )
McDonald’s (245 Housatonic St. Lee,
MA)
Orient Taste (50 Water St. Lee, MA)
*Dakotas (1035 South St.
Pittsfield, MA)
Should you stop at a restaurant that we’ve
not listed, and you would like to recommend it,
please let
us know and we’ll add it to our list!
Q. “Why
are you taking a ‘Love Offering’?”
A. When our Guest Speaker
does not charge us a fee, we would like to be able to offer her a token of
appreciation from all of the ladies. She receives all of the monies collected.
Often speaker’s charge a fee and it could be upwards of $1,000; so when a
speaker waives her fee, it is truly a gift to us all!
